NOPD Investigates Homicide on Iberville Street

The NOPD is investigating a shooting that left a local 33-year-old male victim dead Wednesday morning (October 24, 2018).

At around 4:47 a.m., Eighth District officers responded to a shooting in the 700 block of Iberville Street.  Simultaneously, officers located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso area. The victim was in the driver’s seat of a black 2012 Chevrolet Impala that was stopped in the middle of the street.

The driver was transported to the hospital by EMS, however he later succumbed to his injury.

Investigators are still in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify a person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
