Suspect Arrested for Illegal Carrying of a Firearm, Violation of Protective Order

The NOPD arrested Danvayon Pickett (DOB: 10-29-1997) after he was found in possession of a handgun while in the 7000 block of Crowder Boulevard on October 15, 2017.

Pickett was detained after Seventh District officers responded to a call of a suspicious person in the area with a handgun. A pat down search of Pickett’s person revealed a handgun concealed in Pickett’s waistband.

In addition to the illegal carrying of a weapon charge, Pickett was found to be in violation of a protective order which explicitly prohibited him from possessing a firearm.

Pickett was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for illegal carrying of a firearm and violation of a protective order.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
