Sixth District Seeks Information on Hit & Run Accident

The NOPD Sixth District is seeking assistance from the public on any information regarding a hit and run accident involving a limo bus that occurred on Thursday, October 12, 2017.

At around 4:45 p.m., a traffic accident occurred on the Interstate 10 on-ramp near the intersection of Simon Bolivar Avenue and Calliope Street. The female driver stated that she was working for Carey LLC and operating the company's gray 2013 limo bus.  While driving onto the on-ramp, the driver told police an unknown white Jeep cut from the right travel lane into her travel lane causing the bus driver to swerve off of the roadway from the on-ramp and onto the lower portion of the road.

The limo bus then struck a large concrete pole which caused extensive damage to the vehicle. As a result of the crash, the driver sustained traumatic facial injuries.

Through the course of the investigation, the incident was reclassified as a hit and run incident.

Any witness or anyone with information on this traffic incident can contact Sixth District detectives at 504-658-6060.
