Twenty-six recruits are on board to begin the next NOPD Training Academy Class, which is scheduled to begin Monday, October 31.
An additional four applicants are expected to join the group by the end of the week and 17 more applicants are in the final stages of the hiring process.
Class #178 will be the third recruit class to begin training this year. Class #176, which started training in May, will graduate on October 28 and Class #177 is expected to graduate in December.
The 2016 budget funds the hiring of 150 new police officers this year.
