Local Businesses, Organizations Teaming up with NOPD for National Night Out Against Crime Tonight

Local Businesses, Organizations Teaming up with NOPD for National Night Out Against Crime Tonight

The New Orleans Saints and the Audubon Institute of New Orleans are among the dozens of local businesses, community organizations and non-profits that are teaming up with the NOPD tonight (Oct. 18) to host the 2016 National Night Out Against Crime kick-off event. It’s all happening from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at A.L. Davis Park at 2600 LaSalle Street. The event is free and open to the public.

The event will focus on providing opportunities for residents to get connected to job opportunities, community programs and to the men and women in law enforcement who work in the Central City neighborhood every day.

Get Connected to Available Jobs

The following employers and organizations will be on-hand with information on how to apply to available jobs:

  • New Orleans Police Department;
  • Shiftgig;
  • Hyatt Regency New Orleans;
  • Hilton Garden Inn Convention Center;
  • Wyndham Vacation Ownership;
  • Hilton Garden Inn New Orleans Airport;
  • Domino’s Pizza;
  • McDonald’s of New Orleans; and
  • Raising Canes

The Louisiana Workforce Commission will also have its Mobile Bus which residents can board and:

  • Search for available jobs (including disaster clean-up jobs);
  • Build a resume; and
  • Learn about training opportunities.

Enjoy Family-Friendly Activities

The following organizations will provide family-friendly activities throughout the night:

  • Louisiana Children’s Museum will have art projects and bubble activities;
  • Audubon Nature Institute will have its ZOOMobile on-hand with animals for children to interact with;
  • NOLA FOR LIFE will hold a basketball Tournament;
  • Ashe Cultural Arts Center will lead a drum circle and bring face painting activities;
  • FIT NOLA will provide hula hoop lessons;
  • Young Leadership Council’s “YLC Kicks” program will host soccer games;
  • New Orleans Saints mascot Gumbo will be available for photos and
  • New Orleans Zephyrs mascot Boudreaux will be available for photos.

Free food and beverages will be provided thanks to donations from Walmart, Domino’s Pizza, Coca-Cola, New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts, Raising Can’s Goldring Bulinary Medicine Center and CC’s Coffee.
