KIPP Central City Students Host Basketball Game with NOPD Officers

NOPD officers answered the call today (Oct. 5) from students at KIPP Central City Academy (KCCA) to play in a basketball game before the start of fall break.

Five NOPD officers hit the court with KCCA students for the game this afternoon that included teams of both officers and students. The event happened in conjunction with National Community Policing Week.

NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison and U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite kicked off the game thanking students from coming up with their own idea to engage with police officers in a fun and interactive way.

"Too often, we have to come up with solutions to building relationships, but this was an opporutnity that the student seized and we were happy to participate," said Chief Harrison.
