Campus Burglar Quickly Apprehended for Incidents on Virgil Boulevard

NOPD assisted Dillard University Police in the arrest of Rashad Johns (DOB: 2/14/1988) and charged him with four counts of residential burglary on the campus of Dillard University.

On October 6, 2016, four burglaries were committed between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the 3600 block of Virgil Boulevard. The perpetrator broke into all four of the victims’ bedrooms and stole items including four HP laptop computers, Beats headphones, a PlayStation 4, 2 cellphones, and a pair of Jordans tennis shoes.

During the course of the investigation Johns was identified as the perpetrator of the listed burglaries. He was spotted when he returned to the campus that evening (Oct. 6) and detained by Dillard University Police after a brief chase. When apprehended, Johns was found to be in possession of a firearm and narcotics, so he was additionally charged with: possession of schedule I cds to wit marijuana; criminal trespass; carrying a firearm by a non-student on school property; possession of firearm by a convicted felon; and resisting an officer.
