The NOPD is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred this evening (November 14, 2025) in the 6900 block of Downman Road.
At about 5:38 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a vehicle crash at the location. Upon arrival and investigation, it was determined that a Hyundai Sonata driven by adult female was traveling southbound on Downman Road near the intersection with Lewis Road when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle collided with an 18-wheeler turning from Lewis Road onto the northbound lanes of Downman Road. The driver of the Hyundai was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will officially identify the victim in this incident upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
