NOPD Announces Preliminary Crime Statistics for October 26-November 1, 2025

The following is a weekly report of citywide crime statistics compiled by the NOPD Analytics Unit for the period of October 26-November 1, 2025.

Notable arrests made

During the listed week, the NOPD also made the following notable arrest(s):

  • On October 27, NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals arrested Ronald Smith Jr. (black male, DOB: 04-04-2008) was arrested in Oklahoma City, Okla., in connection with the NOPD’s investigation of a homicide that occurred on October 6, 2025, in the 3700 block of Texas Drive. Smith was arrested on one count of second-degree murder.

Gun arrests (arrests made under LA RS 14:95 and sub-items)

Year to date, the NOPD has made 220 arrests for illegal possession of a firearm. This is a 41-percent decrease compared to 372 arrests made during the same period in 2024.

Gun seizures

Additionally, as of October 27, the NOPD in 2025 had seized 1,530 firearms in criminal investigations, an 18-percent decrease compared to 1,857 such seizures made during the same period in 2024.
