NOPD Arrests Juvenile Suspect in Investigation of School Threats in Third District

On November 18, 2024, the NOPD arrested a 13-year-old juvenile black male in the investigation of threats made toward a local school.

During a lockdown exercise, administration at Audubon Gentilly School in the 4700 block of Painters Street, school administration received information that a student had allegedly verbally threatened violence toward the school and toward students. The school investigated the incident and contacted an NOPD Third District school resource officer for assistance. The officer positively identified the juvenile male as the perpetrator, placed him under arrest and booked him into the Juvenile Justice Intervention Center on one count of terrorizing.

This incident is believed to be isolated in nature and not related to any other school threat incidents currently under investigation.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
