NOPD VOWS, U.S. Marshals Arrest Suspect in Investigation of 2021 Homicide

Today (November 30, 2022), members of the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals arrested Jahlil Haroon (black male, DOB: 06-28-2000) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on December 3, 2021, in the 2300 block of North Galvez Street.

At about 3:55 p.m. on December 3, NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim having sustained a gunshot wound(s). The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where she was declared deceased. The incident was then reclassified as a homicide.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Haroon as the perpetrator in this incident. On November 16, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Haroon on one count of second-degree murder. Haroon was located and arrested today and subsequently booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
