NOPD Traffic officers are investigating a traffic fatality that occurred this morning (November 14 2022) at the intersection of South Peters and Poydras streets.
Just before 9:00 a.m, a flat-bed tow truck traveling north on South Peters with the traffic signal turned left onto Poydras Street. At that time, the victim reportedly attempted to cross Poydras Street on foot north bound on South Peters Street. The victim was struck by the truck and was pronounced by EMS to be deceased on scene. The tow truck driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. No citations have been issued at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will determine official cause of death and release the victims’ name upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
