NOPD Arrests Suspect in Third District on Firearm, Narcotics Charges

On November 11, 2022, NOPD Third District officers arrested Dwayne Williams (black male, DOB: 01-30-1998) on narcotics and weapon possession charges stemming from a traffic stop in the 5100 block of Press Drive.

At about 1:41 p.m., Third District officers initiated a traffic stop at the location. During the course of investigation, officers identified the passenger of the vehicle as Williams, who had two active warrants out for his arrest for incidents dating back to January and February of 2022. A search warrant was requested and approved for the vehicle. During execution of the search warrant, officers found a clear plastic bag containing various colored pills found to be ecstasy and one clear plastic bag containing loose vegetative material, along with a handgun found to be in the passenger’s possession.

In this incident, Williams was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on charges of possession of a Schedule I CDS (ecstasy) and illegal carrying of a weapon while in possession of narcotics. He was also booked for the outstanding warrants on two counts of simple burglary and one count of theft of a firearm, as well as on two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.
