NOPD Arrests Suspect in Eighth District Shooting

The NOPD has arrested Dashawn Myre (black male, DOB: 09-05-2004) in the investigation of a shooting incident on November 27, 2022, in the 200 block of Bourbon Street that left five people injured.

At about 1:49 a.m. on November 27, NOPD officers patrolling near the 200 block of Bourbon Street quickly responded to a call of shots fired. Responding officers arrived and located five victims who had sustained gunshot injuries. The victims were transported for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers initially detained two individuals near the scene of the incident, an 18-year-old male and a 17-year-old male. Both subjects were arrested on one count each of illegal possession of a concealed firearm.

Through further investigation, detectives determined the 18-year-old male – identified as Myre – to be the perpetrator of the shooting incident. On November 28, Myre was additionally booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on five counts of aggravated second-degree battery and one count of illegal use of a weapon.

All arrested persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
