NOPD Investigating Homicide in Third District

The NOPD is investigating homicide near the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and Franklin Avenue that occurred today (November 7, 2021) and left one person dead and another with minor injuries.

At about 12:37 p.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims in a parked vehicle. The male passenger of the vehicle was found to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared deceased at the scene.

A second victim in the vehicle - a female driver - sustained non-gunshot related superficial injuries and was transported for treatment.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
