NOPD Announces Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between November 21-27

Listed below are arrests and clearances by warrant obtained between November 21-27, 2021 in violent crime investigations by the NOPD:

Homicide

  • On November 24, the NOPD’s Homicide Unit at the Violent Offender Warrant Squad arrested Dalton C. Bennett Jr. (pictured, black male, 08-19-1999) for second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder. The incident occurred at the intersection of Rev. John Raphael Jr. Way and Josephine Street on July 20. During the arrest, detectives secured four assault rifles, five handguns, several bags of narcotics and a large amount of cash and ammunition.

Shootings

  • On November 22, NOPD Seventh District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Tiara Tassin (not pictured, black female, DOB: 10-24-1990) for aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred in the 4500 block of Skyview Drive on November 21.

  • On November 25, NOPD Fifth District detectives arrested Joseph Scarborough (pictured, black male, DOB: 04-05-1991 for aggravated battery by shooting and principal to aggravated battery by shooting. The incident occurred in the 300 block of Bourbon Street on March 20.
  • On November 27, NOPD Seventh District detectives obtained arrest warrants for Michael Jones (pictured, black male, DOB. 01-28-1994) and Earl Sylvester (pictured, black male, DOB; 11-13-1985). The incident occurred in the 4800 block of Werner Drive on November 13.

Armed Robbery

  • On November 22, NOPD Second District detectives arrested a 16-year-old juvenile male (not pictured) for illegal possession of stolen things and flight from an officer, a 15-year-old juvenile male (not pictured) for illegal possession of stolen things and flight from an officer, and a 15-year-old juvenile male (not pictured) for Illegal possession of stolen things and flight from an officer. The incident occurred in the 1200 block of Harmony Street on November 21.
