NOPD Investigating Traffic Fatality in Fourth District

The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality that occurred this evening (November 22, 2020) in the 3100 block of Rue Parc Fontaine.

At about 8:26 p.m., NOPD Fourth District officers responded to a call of a pedestrian struck at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered a four-door Acura sedan and its driver at the scene and an unresponsive male pinned under the vehicle.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that the driver of the Acura was making a sharp right turn out of an apartment complex into a neighboring parking lot when the vehicle struck a male pedestrian who was sitting on the sidewalk. Realizing what had occurred, the driver of the vehicle stopped and immediately notified police. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. At this time, no citations have been issued or charges filed.

The Orleans Parish Coroner will officially identify the victim in this incident upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.

Traffic Fatality Investigator Danny Ellis is in charge of the ongoing investigation and can be reached at 504-658-6205 with any additional information.
