NOPD Makes Quick Arrest in Fifth District Homicide

The NOPD has arrested Sean Cooks (DOB: 09-07-1999) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred in the 1400 block of Pauline Street in the early morning hours today (November 29, 2019).

At about 2:18 a.m., NOPD officers responded to a call of shots fired at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim outside of a home and having sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed Cooks as a suspect in this incident. A short time later Cooks turned himself in to NOPD detectives, who obtained a warrant for his arrest on a charge of second degree murder. Cooks was arrested and booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center. A booking photo of Cooks was not available as of this writing.

No further details are available at this time in this investigation.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will officially identify the decedent in this incident, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
