NOPD Investigating Homicide on Tchoupitoulas Street

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (November 20, 2018) in the 1600 block of Tchoupitoulas Street.

At around 3:27 p.m., NOPD Sixth District officers responded to a shooting call in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim lying on his back suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

No additional information is available at this time. Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.

There are no further details available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine an official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
