NOPD Investigates Fatal Third District Carjacking

NOPD Investigates Fatal Third District Carjacking

The NOPD is investigating a Third District carjacking that resulted in a fatality.

 

Third District officers responded to a call reporting a carjacking around 8:25 p.m. in the 2400 block of Prentiss Avenue.

 

As the perpetrator was fleeing in the stolen vehicle, the victim was struck and critically injured. The victim later died at a local hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the incident.

 

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No further information is currently available. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine an official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
