The NOPD is investigating a homicide that claimed the life of an adult male victim. The incident occurred Thursday night, November 23, 2017.

Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at around 9:27 p.m., near the intersection of Gallier Street and North Robertson Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male victim in the street lying next to a four-wheeler suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s) to the body.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
