Cyclist Struck and Killed at North Claiborne and St. Philip

Cyclist Struck and Killed at North Claiborne and St. Philip

The NOPD is investigating the death of a cyclist involved in a hit-and-run accident.

 

At approximately midnight, NOPD officers responded to a call of an injured cyclist at North Claiborne and St. Philip Street. Upon arrival they found a seriously injured 51-year-old white male who appeared to have been hit by a vehicle.

 

The driver of the vehicle that hit the man had fled, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name and the official cause of death.

 

The incident remains under investigation as officers gather evidence and search for video surveillance cameras in the area that may have captured the accident.
