NOPD Makes Arrest in Today’s Homicide on Deslonde Street

As a result of continued investigation throughout the morning, NOPD arrested Lloyd Henry (DOB: 8-5-1962) for this morning’s (Nov. 17) homicide in the 1300 block of Deslonde. He was arrested for second degree murder and will be turned over to the custody of the Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff’s Office.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m. today officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting inside a residence in the 1300 block of Deslonde. When they arrived officers found a 61-year-old black male who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and face. He was transported to the hospital where he died.

Detectives learned that the victim and Henry were guests at the home, having attended a gathering there the night before. The two males were involved in a verbal disagreement when Henry retrieved a firearm and shot the victim multiple times.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name and official cause of death.
