NOPD Investigates Early Morning Homicide on Deslonde Street

NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred early this morning (Nov. 17).

Shortly after 3:30 a.m., officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting inside a residence in the 1300 block of Deslonde. Upon arrival they found a 61-year-old black male who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and face. He was transported to the hospital where he died.

Detectives have learned that the victim and a male acquaintance were guests at the home, having attended a gathering there the night before. The two males were involved in a verbal disagreement when one of them retrieved a firearm and shot the other man multiple times. Police are interviewing the man who fired the weapon at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name and official cause of death.
