The NOPD is investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred this morning (May 24, 2024) on Interstate 10 in the Seventh District.

At about 11:16 a.m., NOPD officers responded to a call of an accident on I-10 West about a half mile from the 510 Exit.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an unidentified Hispanic male lying in the roadway after his motorcycle crashed into the median.

Through investigation, it was determined that the victim was traveling Westbound on I-10 when, for unknown reasons, the driver struck the median and was ejected from his motorcycle.

EMS arrived and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The Orleans Parish Coroner will officially identify the victim and determine the cause of death in this incident upon completion of the autopsy and notification of the family.
