The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the Second District this evening (June 1, 2023).
Around 9:41 p.m., Second District officers responded to a call of a shot person in the 3800 block of General Taylor Street.
Upon arrival, they discovered a 34-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds. EMS pronounced her dead at the scene.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
Investigators are working to determine the motive and person or persons responsible.
Homicide Detective Tanisha Sykes is leading the ongoing investigation.
