NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

Members of the New Orleans Police Department are investigating a homicide that occurred on April 30, 2020, in the 4400 block of Dauphine Street that left an adult female dead and an adult male injured.

At about 8:16p.m., Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the 700 block of Poland Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers located the two victims and found them to have each sustained a gunshot wound(s). Both victims were transported via EMS to a local hospital, where the female victim was declared deceased. Upon further investigation, the incident was determined to have occurred in the 4000 block of Dauphine Street.

Detectives are in the process of gathering information to identify the person(s) responsible for this offense and a motive. No additional information is currently available.
