NOPD Announces Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between May 22-28

Listed below are arrests or clearances by warrant obtained between May 22-28, 2022, in violent crime investigations by the NOPD:

Homicide

  • NOPD Homicide Unit detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Felipe Brown-Sotello (not pictured, black male, DOB: 12-06-2002) for one count of second-degree murder. The warrant comes in the investigation of a homicide on April 14 in the 3700 block of Mansfield Drive. Brown-Sotello was found to be in the custody of law enforcement in Lafayette Parish on a parole violation.

Shooting

  • NOPD Third District detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Antoine D. Taylor (pictured, black male, DOB: 08-30-1991) for one count each of second-degree aggravated battery and for simple battery. The warrant comes in the investigation of an aggravated battery by shooting incident on May 23 at the intersection of Lakeshore and Lake Terrace drives.
  • NOPD Seventh District detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Donta Morris (pictured, black male, DOB: 02-18-2000) for one count of second-degree aggravated battery. The warrant comes in the investigation of an aggravated battery by shooting incident on May 24 in the 14900 block of Curran Boulevard.
  • On May 22, NOPD Fifth District detectives arrested Ryan Hendricks (pictured, black male, DOB: 01-25-2022) for attempted second-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, illegal use of a weapon, obstruction of justice and for illegal carrying of a weapon. The arrest came in the investigation of an incident on May 22 in the 900 block of Mandeville Street.

Armed Robbery /Carjacking

  • On May 26, NOPD Special Operations Division officers and Seventh District detectives arrested William Turner (pictured, black male, DOB: 07-31-1975) for armed robbery with a knife. The arrest came in the investigation of an incident on May 26 at the intersection of Lake Forest Boulevard and Bullard Avenue.
  • On May 26,  NOPD Special Operations Division officers and Seventh District detectives arrested William Turner (pictured, black male, DOB: 07-31-1975) for armed robbery with a knife. The arrest came in the investigation of an incident on May 26 in the 5700 block of Bullard Avenue.
  • On May 26, NOPD Second District detectives arrested Reginald Anthony Mitchell (pictured, black male, DOB: 11-26-1982) for armed robbery, use of a firearm in an armed robbery, aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a firearm and for felon in possession of a firearm. The arrest came in the investigation of an armed robbery with a gun incident on May 18 in the 8100 block of Fig Street. NOPD Special Operations Division, Violent Crime Abatement and Investigation Team and Real Time Crime Center assisted in this investigation and arrest.
  • On May 25, NOPD First District detectives arrested Daniel Kelly (pictured, black male, DOB: 05-26-1986) for armed robbery and for felon in possession of a firearm. The arrest came in the investigation of an armed robbery on May 8 in the 1500 block of Conti Street.
  • On May 24, NOPD Special Operations Division and Violent Crime Abatement and Investigation Team arrested Jovante Matthews (pictured, black male, DOB: 07-17-1996) for armed robbery and for felon in possession of a firearm. The arrest came in the investigation of an armed carjacking on May 18 in the 2600 block of Canal Street.
  • On May 24, NOPD Special Operations Division and Violent Crime Abatement and Investigation Team arrested Jovante Matthews (pictured, black male, DOB: 07-17-1996) for armed robbery and for felon in possession of a firearm. The arrest came in the investigation of an armed carjacking on May 16 at the intersection of South White Street and Tulane Avenue.

Other Significant Arrests

  • On May 25, the NOPD arrested Shawn Honora (not pictured, black male, DOB: 06-08-2001) for principle to negligent homicide and for hit-and-run driving. The arrest came in connection with a hit-and-run traffic fatality incident on May 25 at the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Read Boulevard.
  • On May 22, NOPD Third District officers arrested Tredell Joseph Smith (not pictured, black male, DOB: 10-14-1990) for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, illegal carrying of a weapon and for illegal possession of a stolen firearm. The arrest came during the investigation of a vehicle accident on May 22 at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Lavender Street.
