NOPD Announces Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between May 1-May 6

Listed below are arrests or clearances by warrant obtained between May 1-7, 2022, in violent crime investigations by the NOPD:

Homicide

  • On May 7, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives arrested Alex Madison (pictured, black male, DOB: 05-14-1985) on one count of second-degree murder. The arrest came in the ongoing investigation of a homicide on May 6 in the 4800 block of Alcee Fortier Boulevard. Investigation remains active and ongoing to identify additional suspects in this incident. No additional details are currently available.   • On May 6, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives arrested Shawn A. May (pictured, black male, DOB: 07-28-2003) on one count each of negligent homicide and obstruction of justice. The arrest came in the investigation of a homicide on May 6 in the 1800 block of Painters Street.
  • On May 5, the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad arrested Armand J. Labranch (pictured, black male, DOB: 06-05-1964) for one count of second-degree murder. The arrest came in the investigation of a homicide on March 25 in the 3000 block of Eagle Street.
  • On May 3, NOPD Child Abuse Unit detectives arrested Diane M. Ferrand (pictured, black female, DOB; 02-07-1997) on a charge of second-degree murder. The incident occurred on April 27 in the 2200 block of New Orleans Street.

Shooting

  • On May 5, NOPD First District officers arrested Terry J. Blanks (pictured, black male, DOB: 02-26-1989) on a charge of aggravated battery. The arrest was made in connection with an incident on May 5 in the 1900 block of Saint Ann Street.
  • On May 5, NOPD Eighth District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Joshua Bass (pictured, black male, DOB: 01-19-1977) . The warrant comes in the investigation of an incident on May 4, 2022, at the intersection of Governor Nicholls and Decatur streets.   • On May 1, NOPD Sixth District detectives arrested Tommie Allen (pictured, black male DOB: 01-04-1971) on one count of principle to aggravated second-degree battery. The arrest came in connection with the ongoing investigation of an aggravated battery by shooting on March 20 in the 500 block of Saint Mary Street. Armed Robbery /Carjacking

  • On May 5, NOPD First District officers arrested Terry Blanks (pictured, black male, DOB: 02-26-1989) on one count each of armed carjacking, illegal use of a firearm during commission of a robbery and felon in illegal possession of a firearm. The arrest was made in connection with an incident on May 5 in the 1900 block of Saint Ann Street.
  • On May 3, NOPD Second District officers arrested a 17-year-old juvenile black male (not pictured) and a 17-year-old juvenile black female (not pictured) for armed robbery and illegal use of a firearm in the commission of an armed robbery. The arrests came in connection with an armed robbery incident on January 23 in the 2600 block of Octavia Street.

Other Significant Arrests

  • On May 4, the NOPD arrested a 15-year-old juvenile male (not pictured) on charges of felony hit-and-run driving with death and possession of stolen property. The arrest came in the investigation of a hit-and-run fatality on May 3 at the intersection of Alvar and Chickasaw streets. A second male suspect remains at large.
