Suspect Arrested in NOPD Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has arrested William E. Reese Jr. (pictured, white male, DOB: 06-12-1983) in the investigation of a homicide on May 5, 2021 in the 1100 block of Marais Street that left one person dead.

At about 5:30 p.m., NOPD First District officers responded to a call of a stabbing at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim inside of a residence and having sustained a stab wound. The victim was declared deceased at the scene, at which time NOPD’s Homicide Unit assumed control of the investigation.

During the investigation, detectives were informed of a subject in the nearby area matching a description of the perpetrator. The subject was detained for questioning. Through further investigation, detectives determined the subject – identified as Reese – to be the perpetrator in this incident. An arrest warrant was obtained for a charge of second-degree murder, and Reese was arrested and booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center. In addition, Reese was also arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Jefferson Parish.
