The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality that occurred in the early morning hours today (May 20, 2021) on Interstate 10 East just past the Michoud Boulevard exit.
At about 4:20 a.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a pedestrian having been struck by a vehicle at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim lying in the right lane and unresponsive. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.
The driver involved in the incident stopped a short distance from the scene, reported it to police and is cooperating in the investigation.
