NOPD Investigating a Sixth District Traffic Fatality

NEW ORLEANS - The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality that occurred Friday (April 30, 2021) in the 3900 block of Tchoupitoulas Street.

At around 9:53 p.m., NOPD Sixth District officers responded to an auto accident with injury call at the location.  Upon arrival, officers discovered three victims, one deceased and two injured.  The initial investigation has revealed that a motorcyclist (male) was heading uptown on Tchoupitoulas Street when he struck a pedestrian (female) near General Taylor Street.  The motorcyclist was ejected from the vehicle; however, the motorcycle continued to move and struck an occupied parked car.  One victim from inside the parked car was injured.  The motorcyclist died at the scene, and the two injured victims were transported to the hospital by NOEMS.

No further information is available at this time.  The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the decedent and determine the official cause of death, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.

NOPD Traffic Fatality Investigator Edgar Edwards is in charge of the investigation and can be reached at 504-658-6208 with any information regarding this case.
