NOPD Seeking Suspects in Aggravated Assault with a Firearm in Third District

The NOPD has obtained arrest warrants for Lionel “Yelz” Robertson (DOB: 12-08-1991), Gerald “Frog” West (DOB: 10-24-1996) and Christopher Matthews (DOB unknown) in connection with an aggravated assault with a firearm that occurred on April 30, 2018 in the 2400 block of Jonquil Street.

The victim said that at about 7:00 p.m., he was on the front porch of his home when he saw a dark colored four-door Nissan car approach his residence in the 2400 block of Jonquil Street and recognized the three subjects occupying the vehicle – identifying the driver as Robertson and the passengers as West and Matthews.  About 10 minutes later, the victim said, the vehicle returned with the same subjects, but with each wearing a bandana over their face. The vehicle then reportedly stopped in front of the victim’s residence, at which time West and Matthews allegedly opened the passenger doors and began firing handguns at the victim. The victim said he retreated into his home and the subjects fled in the vehicle, heading south on Clematis Street. No injuries were reported in this incident.

As investigation into the incident progressed, the victim positively identified Robertson, West and Matthews as the occupants of the vehicle and West and Mathews as the alleged gunmen. Third District detectives were then able to secure arrest warrants for the individuals.

Robertson is wanted for principal to aggravated assault with a firearm, while both West and Matthews are wanted for aggravated assault with a firearm and aggravated criminal damage to property.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of these three suspects is asked to contact Third District detectives at 504-658-6030 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
