NOPD Arrests Suspect in Shooting, Armed Robbery on Trapier Street

Members of the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad arrested Gene A. Scott (DOB: 10-30-1987) in connection with an armed robbery incident that also involved a shooting in the 8000 block of Traiper Street on April 17, 2018.

In this incident, the victims were inside of black 2008 Jeep Cherokee when they were reportedly approached by two unknown black males with white T-shirts over their faces. The victims were forced out of the vehicle at gunpoint, and the subjects reportedly stole the victims’ wallets and cell phones. The victims both ran from the scene, at which time the subjects fired shots before entering the victims’ vehicle and fled. One of the victims sustained a gunshot wound to the hip and was transported to an area hospital via EMS for treatment. The reported stolen vehicle was later discovered by the second victim in the 8600 block of Gervais Street, and the victim reported items that were inside of the vehicle were missing.

As investigation into the incident progressed, Seventh District detectives developed and positively identified Scott as one of the suspects and secured an arrest warrant.

Scott was located on May 21, 2019 in the 8900 block of Dinkins Street and arrested. He was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for armed robbery, armed robbery with a firearm and aggravated second degree battery.

Anyone with information regarding this incident, including information regarding the second suspect, is asked to contact Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
