NOPD, FBI Investigating Homicide on South Galvez Street
The NOPD and FBI are jointly investigating a fatal shooting that occurred during today (May 31, 2017) in the 400 block of South Galvez Street.
 
At about 4:34 p.m., First District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the Campus Federal Credit Union branch. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive male victim lying near an armored transport vehicle and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported via EMS to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries. 
 
NOPD and FBI investigators are currently working in conjunction to gather evidence and information to identify the persons responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.
 
No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
