An unknown individual was captured on surveillance video in the commission of a vehicle burglary in the 2700 block of Orleans Avenue on May 22, 2017. The NOPD is seeking assistance in identifying and locating this person.

The victim told police that at around 3 p.m., she parked her white 1999 Ford Econoline van in the back parking lot of the Ruth U. Fertel Tulane Community Health Center, located at the intersection of North Broad Street and Orleans Avenue. On May 22 at about 11:20 a.m., the victim left the above location to bring her children to school. Upon her return to the location, the victim discovered the vehicle missing. The victim told police that she has the only key.

Surveillance video from the health center shows that at approximately 5:30 a.m. on May 22 a U-Haul truck reported stolen from Jefferson Parish pulled into the parking lot of the health center from the Orleans Avenue side. An unknown black male is seen exiting the stolen truck and entering a van parked in the lot and matching the description of the missing van. After a few minutes in the van, the male begins unloading items from the U-Haul into the van before fleeing northbound in the van on Saint Peters Street.
