NOPD Arrests Suspect for Shooting on West Stadium Drive

The New Orleans Police Department has arrested 34-year-old Geron Elzie for Aggravated Battery by Shooting. The offense occurred on February 17, 2022, in the 700 block of West Stadium Drive.

According to investigators, Eighth District officers responded to a call of a shooting and upon their arrival, officers located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Throughout the course of the investigation, detectives positively identified Geron Elzie as the person responsible for the shooting and secured an arrest and search warrant.

Detectives executed the search warrant and located Elzie inside of his residence located in the 2800 block of Josephine Street. Detectives confiscated a handgun with aftermarket extended magazine and a small quantity of heroin.

Elzie was also booked for illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, illegal possession of narcotics and simple escape. Elzie was subsequently booked on two fugitive attachments issued by Jefferson Parish Sherriff’s Office.
