NOPD Identifies Wanted Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Preston Higgs (pictured, male, DOB: 06-11-1984) as the suspected perpetrator of a homicide in the 1200 block of Desire Street.

At about 8:24 a.m. on March 3, 2021, NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by cutting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim with a stab wound(s). The victim was declared deceased at the scene and the investigation was transferred to NOPD’s Homicide Unit.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Higgs as the perpetrator in this incident and obtained an arrest warrant on a charge of second-degree murder.

Higgs is believed to be operating a silver Chevrolet Impala bearing Louisiana license plate 357CMM.
