The NOPD, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Louisiana held a press conference at the NOPD Third District station on March 21 to announce a partnership that includes addition of drop boxes for citizens to deposit unused prescription medications. These boxes will be located at NOPD Headquarters and at district stations.
"You can walk in off the street," said NOPD Commander Jimmy Scott, who oversees the department's major narcotics unit. "You don't have to go to a police officer or anything. You simply walk in, open the door, put it in and that's it."
