VOWS Unit Arrests Three, Confiscates Four Firearms

The NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) unit made three additional arrests today while taking four more guns off of the streets.

 

A juvenile male for first degree rape. The incident occurred in the 1600 block of N. Tonti Street, on March 6, 2017, and Cain was apprehended in the 2700 block of Lawrence Street. (photo not available)

 

Tevis Hankerson (DOB: 2/28/1998) for aggravated battery by shooting. The incident took place at the intersection of JoAnn Place and Lawrence Street on March 22, 2017. Hankerson was also arrested for possession of four handguns – including two that were stolen – a probation violation and a court capias violation. He was apprehended in the 3200 block of Columbus Street by the VOWS unit and the Louisiana Division of Probation and Parole.

 

The VOWS Unit and local U.S. Marshals sent a collateral lead to the U.S. Marshals in Sacramento, CA, which led to the arrest of Bryan Rogers (DOB: 9/18/1985). Rogers was wanted by NOPD for second degree murder in an incident that took place at the intersection of Loyola Street and Foucher Street on November 11, 2016

The Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) is responsible for tracking down individuals who are wanted for serious crimes and apprehending suspects with outstanding warrants. This unit operates within the NOPD’s Special Operations Division and works in conjunction with the United States Marshals Office Fugitive Task Force. In 2016 the unit was responsible from more than 500 arrests.
