NOPD Searching for Suspect Wanted for Assault, Forgery Charges

The NOPD is seeking assistance in locating Cardell Mack (DOB: 07-27-1990), who is wanted by Sixth District detectives on numerous charges including aggravated assault with a firearm and simple battery.

Mack is accused of assaulting a victim described as his ex-girlfriend on May 14, 2016. The victim told police that in an argument with Mack at a car wash where he worked, Mack allegedly grabbed the victim by the neck. The victim told police she was unable to breathe at that time. When Mack reportedly released her, the victim entered the vehicle to leave to location when Mack allegedly brandished a handgun and pointed it at the victim. The victim then drove away from the location and traveled to the Fifth District police station to report the incident.

On March 29, 2017, Sixth District detectives responded to a call of a forgery that occurred at the Valero gas station at 2013 South Claiborne Avenue. The store owner told police that about 5:30 p.m., an individual identified as Mack entered the store and cashed a cashier’s check with the store. The storeowner told police that when he went to deposit the check into his account, it was returned as worthless. The store owner said he spoke with Mack on multiple occasions in an attempt to rectify the situation, but Mack has not returned to do so.

When located, Mack will be arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, simple battery and felony monetary instrument abuse.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Cardell Mack is asked to contact Sixth District detectives at 504-658-6060. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
