The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred in the 5100 block of Eastern Street.
The incident happened on March 27, 2017. At around 11:30 p.m., Third District officers responded to calls of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area. When officers arrived, they discovered a male victim in his early 20's suffering from multiple gunshot wounds outside of a house. The victim was pronounced dead on scene by EMS.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name.
