Coffee with Cops Returns This Saturday

This Saturday, residents and visitors are invited to enjoy a cup of coffee with NOPD officers at seven McDonald’s restaurant locations.

“Coffee with Cops” will take place March 18, 2017, from 9 – 11 a.m. as attendees will have an opportunity to meet with neighborhood patrol officers and enjoy a free cup of coffee. The popular community policing event is a public-private partnership designed to bring together police officers and the communities they serve.

This is the sixth “Coffee with Cops” event held since the program started in June 2016. Hundreds of community members have interacted with officers and learned new ways that they can be more active in their neighborhoods.

Seven McDonald’s locations in New Orleans are participating in the event, including:

  • 3443 S. Carrollton Avenue
  • 4589 General Meyer Avenue
  • 2856 S. Claiborne Avenue
  • 2757 Canal Street
  • 3025 Elysian Fields Avenue
  • 1918 N. Broad Street
  • 711 Canal Street *

McDonald’s Owner/Operator Continues to Highlight Outstanding Officers

In addition to hosting several of this month’s “Coffee with Cops” events, Chris Bardell, a local McDonald’s owner and operator, will announce the NOPD Officer of the Month Award for March. Bardell started the program in October 2016 as a way to recognize an NOPD officer for going above and beyond the call of duty on the job.

* As part of the recognition, Bardell awards the winning officer with a $750 scholarship that the officer can use to participate in police training and leadership programs across the country. The awards will be presented by Bardell and NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison at 10 a.m. at the McDonald’s located at 711 Canal Street.
