Suspect Sought by NOPD for Simple Burglary, Possession of Stolen Items

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Yasmin Smith (DOB: 01-07-1982) in connection with a simple burglary incident that occurred in the 3500 block of Gentilly Boulevard on May 23, 2018.

The victim told police that at about 9:50 p.m., an unknown light-skinned black female was found to have entered one of the victim’s vehicles without permission.

At around the same time of day on May 20, 2018, the subject was seen on the victim’s surveillance video breaking into another vehicle belonging to the victim. Numerous items were reported stolen from that vehicle, including keys to the vehicle which was accessed on May 23.

As investigation into the incident progressed, Third District detectives were able to positively identify Smith as the perpetrator and obtain a warrant for her arrest.
