Suspect Arrested for Two Counts of Auto Theft on Poydras Street

NOPD officers have arrested Warren Speed (DOB: 7/22/93) in connection with two auto theft incidents that occurred on Poydras Street.

The first incident happened on June 14, 2018. At around 6 p.m., the victim left her keys with the valet while her silver 2014 BMW 328I was parked in the motor lobby. The above-depicted subject requested the victim’s keys with the victim’s valet ticket while at the lobby area.

The suspect then paid the valet parking amount and retrieved the keys to the vehicle. The suspect then fled the scene on South Peters Street than in an unknown direction. On June 20, 2018, at about 12:40 a.m. Third District Officers apprehended Speed after he was observed on video surveillance stealing a black 2011 Range Rover from the 300 block of Poydras Street.

Both vehicles have been recovered.

Anyone with any additional information on these incidents or arrested subject should contact any Eighth District Detective at 504-658-6080. Citizens with information that can help solve a crime are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.
