NOPD VOWS Unit Arrest Suspect for Aggravated Battery

The NOPD Violent Offender Warrant Squad and U.S. Marshals have arrested Charmaine Carter (DOB: 07/03/1969) for her involvement in an aggravated battery incident that occurred in the Eighth District.

On Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at or around 11:30 a.m., the victim was sitting in the park, located in the 300 block of Loyola Avenue, when Carter approached the victim, at which time they became involved in a physical altercation. Carter allegedly pulled a metal hook from her shirt and began to strike the victim with the object during the fight.

The victim told police a second subject, who is also an acquaintance of Carter, got out of her vehicle, picked up the victim’s cell phone and smashed it on the ground. The subject then walked toward the victim and struck her with a closed fist. Both suspects fled the scene and the victim was transported to an area hospital to receive treatment for her injuries.

On Thursday, June 21, 2018, officers located Carter in the 6800 block of Tara Lane. Carter was also wanted for outstanding warrants from Jefferson Parish and the Gretna Police Department at the time of her arrest.The individual was transported to Central Lockup, where she was booked accordingly for all charges.
