NOPD Arrest Suspect for Illegal Possession of a Concealed Weapon

Eighth District Bourbon Promenade Officers arrested Alejandro Ford (DOB: 11/15/1994) after he produced a handgun during a simple battery incident involving NOPD officers.

On Saturday, June 16, 2018, officers observed a fight in the 500 block of Bourbon Street and responded to the incident. Two NOPD officers sustained minor injuries while trying to apprehend the subjects.

As the officers proceeded to apprehend the subjects, Ford, who is also an acquaintance of the subjects that were being arrested, retrieved a handgun from the rear of his shirt and began pacing in the street, holding the gun with unknown intentions.

Officers arrested Ford and confiscated a 9 millimeter handgun loaded with 12 live rounds of ammunition in the magazine. He was charged with illegal carrying of a concealed weapon and illegal possession of a firearm while in an alcoholic beverage outlet. Ford was transported to Central Lockup where he was booked accordingly.
