NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred early this morning (June 3, 2024) in the 2400 block of Jackson Avenue.
At about 2:15 a.m., NOPD Sixth District officers were called to a shooting at the location. Upon arrival they discovered the victim, an adult Black male, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. EMS arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
Through investigation, detectives learned that the victim had been approached by two subjects and shot.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will positively identify the victim and determine cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family members.
Homicide Detective Walter Edmond is the lead in this ongoing investigation.
