NOPD Announces Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between June 5-12

Listed below are arrests or clearances by warrant obtained between June 5-12, 2022, in violent crime investigations by the NOPD:

Homicide

  • On June 11, NOPD Traffic Fatality Investigators arrested Kirk Jefferson (pictured, black male, DOB: 08-21-1987) for vehicular homicide. The arrest came in the investigation of a traffic fatality on June 10 on Interstate 10 East at Ridgeway Drive.
  • On June 10, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives obtained arrest warrants for four individuals in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on May 31 in the 7900 block of Stroelitz Street, in the parking lot of the Xavier University Convocation Center. The following suspects are wanted or have been arrested in this ongoing investigation:
    • Laverne Duplessis (pictured, black female, DOB: 01-08-1982), wanted for one count each of manslaughter, obstruction of Justice and for carrying a gun in a Gun-Free Zone. 
    • Brandon Rock (pictured, black male, DOB: 12-03-2003), who surrendered to NOPD on June 10 and was booked on one count each of manslaughter and carrying a gun in a Gun-Free Zone. 
    • Frank Bartholomew: (pictured, black male, DOB: 11-21-1972), wanted for one count of obstruction of justice. 
    • A 15-year-old juvenile black male (not pictured), wanted for one count of carrying a gun in a Gun-Free Zone.

  • On June 9, the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad arrested a 17-year-old juvenile black male (not pictured) on one count of second-degree murder. The arrest came in the investigation of a homicide on May 15 in the 5700 block of Crowder Boulevard.
  • On June 9, he NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals arrested Ryan Williams (pictured, black male, DOB: 10-19-1980) for one count of second-degree murder. The arrest came in the investigation of a homicide on September 16, 2020, in the 1600 block of Desire Street.

Shooting

  • On June 11, Walter Bradix (not pictured, black male, DOB: 07-26-1985) was arrested in Jefferson Parish for aggravated second-degree battery and for illegal carrying of a firearm. The arrest came in connection with an aggravated battery by shooting incident on June 11 in the 2200 block of Mendez Street in New Orleans.
  • On June 10, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Jordan Mitchell pictured, black male, DOB: 11-11-2002) in Slidell, La., on two counts of attempted murder in the ongoing NOPD investigation of an aggravated battery by shooting incident earlier in the day on June 12 at the intersection of Marques Drive Chef Menteur Highway. Through further investigation, Mitchell was additionally charged with one count of first-degree rape in connection with this incident.   • On June 8, NOPD Special Operations Division officers arrested Cornell Johnson (pictured, black male, DOB: 05-29-1989) for two counts of attempted murder and one count of resisting arrest. The arrest came in the investigation of an attempted homicide by shooting on March 17 at the intersection of Urquhart and Tupelo streets.

Armed Robbery /Carjacking

  • On June 8, NOPD Fourth District officers arrested Garland Davis (not pictured, black male, ODB; 08-30-1990) with illegal possession of stolen things and for unauthorized use of a moveable. The arrest was made in the Fourth District in connection with an armed carjacking reported on March 4 in the 400 block of North Scott Street in the First District. He was also arrested on outstanding warrants in St. Bernard Parish.
  • On June 7, NOPD Fourth District officers arrested Ireion Allen (pictured, black female, DOB: 04-16-1986) for armed robbery, use of a firearm in an armed robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, illegal carrying of a weapon while in possession of narcotics, possession of Schedule II drugs (cocaine, heroin) with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest came in connection with an armed carjacking incident on June 4 in the 1300 block of Sumner Street and with a traffic stop on June 7 in the 3600 block of Macarthur Boulevard.
  • On June 7, NOPD Fourth District officers arrested Kent Reaux (not pictured, black male, DOB: 10-17-1984) for illegal carrying of a weapon while in possession of narcotics, possession of Schedule I CDS, possession of a Schedule II CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest came in connection with a traffic stop on June 7 in the 3600 block of Macarthur Boulevard.
  • On June 6, NOPD Second District detectives arrested Darrell Pitts (pictured, black male, DOB: 09-28-1970) on a charge of aggravated battery and on two counts of armed robbery. The arrest came in connection with the investigation of an armed robbery with a knife incident on May 27 in the 7900 block of Forshey Street and in the investigation of an armed robbery with a knife incident on June 3 in the 3600 block of South Carrollton Avenue.
