NOPD VOWS, U.S. Marshals Arrest Suspect in Homicide Investigation

NOPD VOWS, U.S. Marshals Arrest Suspect in Homicide Investigation

Today (June 8, 2021), the NOPD's Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals arrested Dantrell J. Brown (pictured, black male, DOB: 01-15-2001) in the homicide of 12-year-old Todriana Peters that occurred on May 30, 2021 in the 500 block of Delery Street.

At around 10:30 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of aggravated battery by shooting at the location.  Upon arrival, officers found a 12-year-old female victim suffering with a gunshot wound(s). The victim was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office later identified the victim as Peters.

Two other victims - a 19-year-old male and an 18-year-old male - also sustained gunshot wounds in this incident and arrived via private conveyance to area hospitals.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Brown as the perpetrator in this incident. A warrant was obtained for Brown's arrest on two counts of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

NOPD VOWS officers and the U.S. Marshals located Brown today in the 8600 block of Gervais Street and arrested him without incident. Brown was transported to the Orleans Parish Justice Center and booked accordingly.
